In the Mountain's Shadow

An amnesiac stranger collapses in the snow at the gate of In-the-Mountain's-Shadow — on the barbarian side.  Who is he, where has he come from, and why is he here?  The right answers mean that the Duchess of In-the-Mountain's-Shadow can give in to the feelings developing between her and the stranger.  The wrong answers will mean that her King will have him imprisoned or killed.
